Noteworthy and memorable: the Memory Walk via Kate's Club makes November noteworthy

For just over 20 years, Kate's Club is a sound and growing presence in not only Metro-Atlanta, but the state of Georgia.

From its humble beginnings i 2003 with a social outing with 6 children at a bowling alley to being an evolving nonprofit who helps more than 10,000 grieving children, teens, their families, and young adults, they provide an ever-present reminder people are not alone when it comes to coping with grief. With a growing range of programs and services aligned with the National Alliance for Children's Grief's Standards of Practice (as nearly 1 in 11 children in Georgia experience grief due to the death of a parent, sibling, caregiver, or someone important to them), their impact is felt in multiple municipalities and community (click HERE for our coverage of their program this past August).

As we enter the heart of autumn, an event which is near and dear to the foundation's leadership, volunteers, and families served as the upcoming Memory Walk. The event takes place on Sunday, November 10, 2024 at Blackburn Park in Brookhaven, but it's more than just a walk.

Our recent conversation with Courtney Krygiel (Director of Development and Marketing) and Judy Train (Director of Operations) provides insight on not only the programs provided, but the event. With a combined 17-plus years of experience (via different roles with the nonprofit), they are not only proactive with their leadership roles, but through their larger connection with the mission, purpose, programming, and community building which takes place, have an innate ability to forge positive relationships with the community they serve.

The walk is memorable not only for a way to enjoy the great outdoors, but it's a way for people to find and generate a sense of community, along with reminders of the access to resources regarding grief and again, knowing they are not alone.

There are multiple ways the community may lend support. Be it as a walker to a sponsor (individual and businesses), support for the event translates to support for their larger programming.

On the eve of the holidays, having a sense of belonging and community can go a long way.

Through the Memory Walk and related endeavors via Kate's Club, November can be noteworthy in helping build a new set of memories, meaning, and belonging during the holidays or any day.
