A sweeter 16. The 16th Annual Bowl-A-Thon for Sickle Cell via Savvy Affairs steps up to "strike out" the health hurdle with expended efforts.
A number of people have likely heard the phrase "health is wealth". Be it physical, emotional, or spiritual, when one's health is in order, so can so many other aspects of our day-to-day existence.
However, there are some serious health hurdles which impact our existence, and among them is Sickle Cell (which does not always get the attention or resources allocated relative to other health challenges). However, one such entity who uses their platform to build awareness and support for such efforts is Savvy Affairs.
On September 26, 2026 (from 8pm-12am at Bowlero in Norcross, GA), the PR firm is hosting its 16th Annual Bowl-A-Thon for Sickle Cell. Under the leadership of Zee Mullen, the event, which has grown exponentially, is primed to provide all with a tremendous experience amplified by the knowledge their patronage can make it impact in people's lives.
In our recent interview with Ms. Mullen, we open up with the backstory of the event. To her surprise, she learns how many people are not aware of Sickle Cell, including the audience it primarily impacts. Combined with hitting close to home (her son lives with and through the health hurdle), she takes it upon herself to use her platform to better educate and familiarize the community on how much of a challenge it can be and generating improved support for research and related endeavors (you may watch the segment below for more details):
This year's edition builds on the previous years, but there are a few additions present. Ranging from DKMS conducting on-site testing (for Sickle Cell and other blood-related areas of concern) to the presence of Francesca Amiker as the celebrity/lead host to lead DJ Fadelf (from HGTV's "Married to Real Estate"), the event is generating support from multiple celebrities, businesses, and related patrons (you may watch the video below for more details):
While the date of the event is fast approaching, there's still some time to get involved.
Patrons have the opportunity to serve as a team captain (for a team of 8) as well as being an individual bowler and being placed on a team. There are limited vendor slots available, and for those who are non-bowlers who simply want to be a part of the event and lend support, you may do so (by watching the video below):
The combination of the venue, people, awareness, and cause supported make the Bowl-A-Thon for Sickle Cell a key event in the fall. When you do your own thinking, there are good things that can come from it.
It's an opportunity to step up and strike out Sickle Cell.
