4th quarter chronicles with #AuthorASnorton: join the author for upcoming events during the upcoming holidays season
When you hear the term "4th quarter", there's a few images that likely come to mind.
For those in sports, it's crunch-time as you know the end of the game is at hand. It's time to put up or be silent.
For those in business, it means it's the end of the fiscal year and time to gear up for a new year.
And for an author, it's time back on the road, near and far, and wonderful engagement opportunities to readers, bookstores, bookclubs, and the larger community.
Opening with a successful appearance at Nubian Bookstore (on November 1, 2024), #AuthorASnorton is back at it, including events in Jacksonville, FL (for this first-ever event in the city and state) and a return (and rescheduled) author's talk in Raleigh, NC for the first time since 2017. In his 7 years since the release of his release Deeper than your deepest sleep: thoughts on love with Joseph Snorton (2017), he's conducted multiple book-signings in cities, bookstores, and related venues including (but not limited to) Chicago, Dallas, Nashville, and even at his alma mater, Wake Forest University. As a participating author or speaker for festivals ranging from the Mississippi Book Festival (2017-19, 2022-23), Detroit Book City Festival (2019-20), the Tubman Museum, the Negro Southern League Museum, and Chicago's DuSauble Museum, he has a total of 4 published books and an audiobook series among his publications.
"I'm thankful and grateful for the opportunities presented to me, along with the support from some tremendous readers, bookstores, festivals, and people across the board", he notes.
On November 23, 2024 (10am-2pm), his appearance at San Marco Books and More is groundbreaking in the sense it'll be his first ever book-signing in the state of Florida, let alone the city of Jacksonville. And just in time for the mid-holiday season, his rescheduled author's talk on December 14, 2024 at Beow's Books & Brews (as this is his first Raleigh, NC appearance since 2017) looks to provide an intimate conversation and author's talk reminiscent of others, including his talks at the beginning of the year (January 2024 at The Bookhouse in Winston-Salem/Reynolda Village [moderated by fellow author Reasha Tenaye] and the Lincoln Public Library [moderated by The Hunt for Foundation]; moderated by JazzyB4Real (who has curated events ranging from the Super Bowl to the BET Awards and related arts/entertainment and cultural events), it provides a way to enjoy some "up close and personal" time with the author.
All 4 of his books are featured at the events, including the previously mentioned "deeper" (a poetic retelling on the energy of love based on conversation with a long-lost family member), 9 stories of faith: volume 1 (an interview-based book where those from multiple faith backgrounds open up on their biggest daily challenge and the means [their faith, use of best practices, their support network, and changing their way of thinking] used to live lives of purpose and positivity], nothing Minor (a focus on his first year of covering minor league baseball, player interviews [as some of the players are currently on Major League Baseball rosters], along with special sections, including one on the Negro Southern League Museum), and quotes and notes: something's on the horizon ( a think-piece complete with original quotes, logic/rationales, and journaling for readers to "pause and reset). With a wide array of topics and genres for a myriad of readers, he'll also have limited inventory of the #AuthorASnortonBlend (his coffee collaboration with Fante's Coffee) available, as a cup or bag of really good coffee is an ideal compliment with his books (or anyone who partakes of coffee).
Given the end of the year, what else is on the horizon for the author for the duration of the year (along with looking ahead to 2025)?
"I'm just keeping things simple and keeping a positive mindset, staying healthy, and excited to connect with some wonderful people, especially with the holiday season just about here. And yes, continue to work on a few things to get 2025 off to a good start", he hints.
As noted, it's the 4th quarter. It's time to close out the current season and prepare for a new one. It's an opportunity to build, engage, enrich, and provide a creative space for readers and the larger community.
It's time for #AuthorASnorton.
