The month of June is important, and not just due to it being the official start of summer and other events.

With it being Men's Mental Health Awareness Month, a number of community and civic entities are hosting events as a way to not only have conversations on the importance of this health issue, but providing access to support and related resources for those in need.

Of the events taking place this month, the upcoming health and wellness event via the Mayor's Office of Constituent Services (Atlanta) and City Councilman Antonio Lewis (District 12) is one to take note of. It takes place on June 20, 2026 from 10am-3pm at Atlanta City Hall and includes collaboration with James Dallas & Associates along with the Grady Health System among other entities.

The day includes free health screenings and testing, workshops with health professionals covering mental health and other health areas of concern (including, but not limited to prostate cancer, heart disease, HIV, and diabetes), along with free haircuts. As an added feature, honoring and recognition of the community-centered efforts of Anthony "Tic" Jones is scheduled to take place.

Registration for the event is highly recommended (you may click HERE for more details) for scheduling purposes, especially related to screenings and other items.

With more awareness, improved action can take place; when it comes to health, this is one of a number of events taking place to connect with the community for improved engagement and positive takeaways.

And it's something free in the city.
