Men matter: in time for Men's Mental Health Month, the Hip Hop 4 Health event provides access to resources and community engagement

Health is wealth.

This catchphrase is gaining traction as there's a growing awareness for the importance of one's health. And while there's an awareness regarding one's physical health, there's a growing understanding of the importance and relevance of one's mental health, especially when it comes to men.

While mental health is important all year-round, the month of June takes on added importance as it's Men's Mental Health Month. Of a number of events taking place throughout the month, Columbia High School (2106 Columbia Drive in Decatur, GA) serves as a space and place for access to resources and related engagement thanks to the upcoming collaboration between Undaground Madness & Caresource through their Hip Hop 4 Health event (June 20, 2026 from 1-3pm).

The event is free to attend and includes a combination of health focused conversations (by way of the Real Talk Circle), music (with live performances from local artists), fitness & wellness activities, and a community hub where attendees can connect with multiple community and health related vendors (you my refer to the flyers for a listing of those scheduled to be in attendance and/or are lending their support to the event). As an added bonus, there are multiple prizes and giveaways scheduled, including a $45 gift-card and related items.

With efforts along these lines, the community is provided a call to action regarding mental health (and health in general), and while the topic may be a challenge for some (including men), not having the conversation and concerted action to addressing these and related health issues is even more challenging.

On June 20th, the community has the opportunity to "hop to it".
