Decked out: the Serving Tray Foundation's inaugural spades tournament provides support for those living with and through lung cancer
The month of November is Lung Cancer Awareness Month.
Of a number of events taking place to build awareness and support, there's one that hits close to home for Trae Johnson.
The professional, author, and community advocate, including his membership via Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. is adding another title to his impressive resume, and that is via his nonprofit, Serving Tray, Inc. Given his close-to-home experience of his mother transitioning due to lung cancer, the event taking place on November 2, 2024 (from 12-5pm) is more than a way to keep her memory alive, but a way to generate access to resources given the health issue.
Frozen Smoke Restaurant and Bar (118 MLK Sr Heritage Trail in Stockbridge, GA) serves as the venue for the foundation's inaugural spades tournament ($25 per person and $50 for teams of two). With a focus on a festive setting and atmosphere, teams can compete for some creative prizes and more while supporting the foundation's cause (around lung cancer awareness and support).
With a range of moving parts across professional and community-related fields, Johnson is using his platform for the greater good, and the upcoming event is a way for the community to engage as it relates to the health issue of lung cancer.
The first Saturday of November is a way to get decked out.
