Monday moves: call for community support for Life with Shenita (toy giveaway)

The holidays are a special time of the year, as community-focused efforts tend to rise to the ocassion.

With a track record of community-focused events and programming, Life With Shenita is making moves this Monday, December 18th. In doing so, it's about helping families and encouraging the community to share their time and talents.

Led by Dr. Shenita Connally and coming off a growing series merging the performing arts (click HERE) and related community support (click HERE), the upcoming Christmas Toy Giveaway provides support for famllies and youth in providing holiday cheer. Combined with support from community partners Toys for Tots, A Peer Place, Inc., New Vision Christian Church, and District 7 Board Member Sabrina Hill (Clayton County), the event takes place from 12-4pm at the CCPS Administrative Complex in the Cafe area (located at 1098 Fifth Avenue in Jonesboro, GA).

Refreshments are provided along with other activities to provide a sound family-themed setting. Registration is closed/at capacity (and children must accompany parents as part of the toy selection).

To date, the goal is for each registered child (boys and girls) to pick ou their gifts. Given the demand, there are needs from the community to donate toys for boys (ages 0-2) along with girls (ages 6-7 and 11 and up). Likewise, there's a need for additional volunteers to help prior to and during the event.

To find out more on how to donate and support the aforementioned areas, you may contact Dr. Connally at 404-429-8288.

At times, this time of the year can be challenging across the board. December 18th is an opportunity for the community to rise to the challenge and lend assistance in providing holiday hope and cheer for those in need.

And that's a move for Monday.
