Walk in purpose. On purpose. For purpose.

If nothing else, the Alabama-raised and resident DJ Chocolate is doing that and then some. In our recent conversation, we take a look at her professional and civic journey, which is clearly grounded in her faith along with her positive-purpose driven walk.

Like a number of people, the epic Motown 25 special which arguably the greatest entertainer/artist Michael Jackson unveils the epic Moonwalk is what is the initial hook and hold moment when it comes to music. This provides the catalyst which eventually lands her in radio, but there's more to it. When it comes to keeping the party rocking and moving, there's a noted lack of women who are dj'ing and utilizing their music and related skill-set on the turntables; her motivation for music runs even deeper to the point where she can be considered a pioneer in a field where today, the growth of women who are highly proficient dj's is ever-present.

Her evolution as a DJ is in large part not only to her dedication and work ethic, but positive professional relationships from the likes of one of her mentors, DJ Redbone, and classic DJ Mix Master Ice (from UTFO). With a catalog of events within Alabama, across the country, and globally, her innate ability to connect with people from multiple walks of life makes her a highly sought after and respected presence in the industry.

As a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., her work via Grown and Greek takes on a special meaning.

Though the launch of her podcast (Grown and Greek on multiple streaming platforms), her work as a storyteller/journalist in capturing and amplifying the narratives of members of the Divine 9 (the collective of Black/African-American fraternities and sororities) is integral to the platform. In showing the range of excellence across multiple professional and civic fields, it's a way to bring all entities together, let alone the general public to be motivated, encouraged, and empowered by these and forthcoming stories of impact.

With these and other projects in the works, it makes you wonder how she's able to handle multiple moving parts; thankfully, with her faith and support team in place, she's able to simply do the work she's charged to do.

And in the end, it's about her stewardship and service through the lens of her business and civic-related efforts. It's about leaving a positive footprint in steps which are clearly ordered.

Walk in purpose. On purpose. For purpose.
