We are aware of the term party with a purpose; it means that the given social event has some sort of community tie-in and connection, ranging from raising funds, awareness, and resources. What does it mean to have former professional athletes come together to do something of this kind?
Yes, it's a time to play, but doing so with a greater purpose.
On Saturday, May 27, 2017, OfficialProPlayers.com is hosting its All-White Victory Cruise. Hosted by actress/producer Tangi Miller, it provides an upscale setting designed for all to have an enjoyable time in a mature setting, along with supporting a much needed purpose.
Under the leadership of its founder Walt Harris, the event provides a blend of current and former professional athletes, celebrities, patrons, and other VIP's. Taking place at Harbor Landings (7000 Lanier Islands Parkway in Buford, GA), the event opens at 5pm with the Red Carpet welcome and a wine tasting prior to the boarding and departure (at 6pm). Enjoying the sights and sounds of a live dj, open bar, complimentary buffet, and vendors, all in attendance are primed to have an enjoyable outdoor experience.
However, the former defensive back (whose NFL resume includes playing for the San Francisco 49'ers, Washington Redskins, Indianapolis Colts, and Chicago Bears) notes it is more than having a good time and night out. He emphasizes, "It is about supporting a cause and many others that are close to my heart".
Proceeds from the event support the Georgia Coalition Against Domestic Violence. This provides access to resources and advocacy for those who are survivors of domestic violence and related instances.
In line with its mission of "We are stronger as one", this is one of a number of community and related areas of concern the organization is focusing on helping problem-solve. The needs are many, but as the adage states, together, everyone achieves more.
