Going "fourth". The upcoming Fourth Source Resources Fair via Congressman Hank Johnson provides a measure of help to the larger community

Yesterday's price isn't today's price.

While we realize this is true, a point can be made about the drastic changes since the change in the administration and majority in Congress which takes effect in January 2025. The cuts to essential services that are forecast prior to last summer's bill getting passed (click HERE for our coverage) are gradually taking effect and clearly will be felt even more drastically in the coming months. When people consider from September 2025 to September 2026, gas prices have increased by more than 30% (click HERE to view some of the data), rising food costs (click HERE to view some data), and increases in costs to healthcare with concerns about access (click HERE to view some data), people from multiple walks of life are feeling "it", and "it" is not too good of a feeling.

"Even when Congress is not in session, my work for the people of Georgia's Fourth Congressional District never stops", notes Congressman Hank Johnson. And on this Wednesday (October 28, 2026) from 10am to 2pm, there's a measure of relief and access to resources to those in need.

The Fourth Source Resources Fair (taking place at the Sanford Realty Complex at 4183 Snapfinger Woods Drive in Decatur, GA) is bringing together community organizations, government agencies, workforce partners, and healthcare providers for the community resource fair. With a focus on connecting residents in the district with resources and services available in their own back yard, it provides a sense of simply "coming up for air".

Food pantry distributions and prostate cancer screenings via the Emory University Winship Cancer Institute (click HERE to register for testing) are available. There are also staff scheduled to be on hand to help answer questions in navigating through processes with federal agencies (including the IRS, Social Security, Immigration, and others).

In collaborating with DeKalb County Commissioner Mereda Davis Johnson (D-5), the following are among the entities scheduled to be a part of the event (and more are scheduled to be present):

  • Atlanta Community Food Bank.

  • St Vincent de Paul Society.

  • STAND Inc.

  • Partnership for Community Action.

  • Project Community Connections Inc.

  • Made for Bigger.

  • First African Community Development Center.

  • DeKalb Workforce Bus.

  • Georgia Power.

  • Georgia Piedmont Technical College.

  • Emory University Winship Cancer Institute.

  • Atlanta North Labor Union.

  • United Food Workers Union.

  • Carpenters Union.

  • Builders Union.

  • Neighborhood Assistance Corporation of America.

  • Clean Airforce Moms.

  • LifeLine Animal Project.

  • Studio Farmer, Inc.

  • IRS.

  • ICNA Relief.

  • DeKalb County Human Services.

  • St. Mary's Independent Living Services.

  • Blood Cancer United.

This Wednesday, a measure of help is on the way.

NOTES: It is encouraged to the public to RSVP (click HERE to do so) to help facilitate the process, but it is not required (and walk-ins are welcome).
