Join in: a visit to the Ronald McDonald House by way of the Atlanta Gladiators reminds all to put families at the heart of care
June 8, 2026 is seemingly like any other summer day in Metro-Atlanta, other than the temperature being a little more moderate to compliment the rain and humidity. As we travel along to our destination, our initial goal is to catch up with the Atlanta Gladiators (the ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Nashville Predators); while it's their offseason, the team is still "on" as it comes to their community engagement. What we come away with is more than just engagement; it's a reminder

Men matter: in time for Men's Mental Health Month, the Hip Hop 4 Health event provides access to resources and community engagement
Health is wealth. This catchphrase is gaining traction as there's a growing awareness for the importance of one's health. And while there's an awareness regarding one's physical health, there's a growing understanding of the importance and relevance of one's mental health, especially when it comes to men. While mental health is important all year-round, the month of June takes on added importance as it's Men's Mental Health Month. Of a number of events taking place througho

Restoration: Senators Richard Blumenthal and Elizabeth Warren, along with Representative Hank Johnson, call on Bank of America to restore consumer protections and legal rights
At a time where the political landscape is relatively questionable, one of the entities who feels the brunt of said activity is the actual consumer. Along with well documented concerns related to transportation (in the form of gas prices being about 40% higher than this time in 2025 - you may click HERE to learn more), protecting the consumer (and general public) is a clear and present issue. 10 years strong: via Life After the Rain and related programming, Shenita Connally and related efforts provide support and more to the widow and widower community
The weekend of June 20-21, 2026 is meaningful given it's part of the celebration of the Junteenth holiday along with leading into the official (per the actual calendar) start of summer. For Life After the Rain via Shenita Connally and those supported by the organization's efforts, the weekend means something else (in a good way). It's a weekend to not only build on the programming and access to resources provides for those who are widows, widowers, and their supporters, but

The evolution of Urban Pie Atlanta: the Kirkwood neighborhood staple makes its transition to a sports bar and creates an inclusive tone and environment for all
June. It's the official halfway point of the year and the beginning of summer. During this time of the year, a venue with an inviting atmosphere along with indoor and outdoor options is truly ideal. And when it comes to a venue with universal appeal, our recent visit (with our collaborative partners of Lens2Pens Podcast and EmoryRose Photography) to Urban Pie Atlanta is truly a space and place which has these components and so much more. Under the ownership of Lisa Curtis,

Spiritually driven and culturally centered: set sail for the launch of the Spades & Spirits Podcast
Being driven by the Spirit (and an occasional "sprinkling" of some spirit for the 21 and older audience) and having a coming together of culture-centered and driven conversations. On top of that, provide enough of a mix of a little game-play while being all about intentional and transformative. Who exactly does that? Look no further than the creative media undertaking of Misty Reign (The Spiritual Attorney) and Christian Nicole (The Intuitive Development Coach). Already res

A sound series of summer events: the "Iconic" Iota Zeta Sigma Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. sets the stage for a sensational summer
Typically during the summer months, a number of Divine 9 organizations (the collective of historically and predominantly Black fraternities and sororities) use the summer for a time to pause and refresh to gear up for their programming during the fall and related times of the year. While duly noted, the "Iconic" Iota Zeta Sigma Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. is among those taking a different approach with a balance of social and community engagement during this ke

A purpose in being prepared: the upcoming book discussion via Shenita Connally focuses on providing access to resources in getting things in order
Is your life in order? When it comes to preparing for the inevitable, getting one's affairs in order is a conversation that has to take place. Despite the challenges that come with such conversations, not having them can wreak havoc and in a proverbial manner, add kerosene to a fire. Given her life experience in transitioning, Shenita Connally's book Is Your House In Order is a deep yet accessible dive into the need to plan ahead as fully as possible. Inspired by the needs

On the rise: the Atlanta Gladiators' 2025-26 season sets the stage for developing talent and competing for meaningful games beyond the month of April
The ECHL season is a long one. The regular season (72 games) starts in mid-October and for most teams, concludes in mid-April. For 16 teams (4 from each division), their season continues into post-season play for the ECHL Championship, the Kelly Cup. And while the Atlanta Gladiators' season concluded on May 4th with a series-ending 3-1 loss in Game 6 of their 1st round playoff series against the South Carolina Stingrays (a 4-2 series loss), while ending sooner than planned,

Year 11 of the Winner's Circle: the Alphas of Atlanta build on their community impact via the #AlphaDerbyWeekend
Since its inaugural effort in 2015, the #AlphaDerbyWeekend via the Alphas of Atlanta is one of the key events of its kind nationally. Yes, we said nationally. The Kentucky Derby themed event has evolved from a 2-day event (2015-16) to a 3-day event (2017-19) and eventually adding a golf tournament component (2021) to being one of the most prestigious events outside the actual Kentucky Derby in Louisville, KY.
