Typically during the summer months, a number of Divine 9 organizations (the collective of historically and predominantly Black fraternities and sororities) use the summer for a time to pause and refresh to gear up for their programming during the fall and related times of the year.
While duly noted, the "Iconic" Iota Zeta Sigma Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. is among those taking a different approach with a balance of social and community engagement during this key time of the year. The events they have on their summer calendar (3 between the months of June and July) are synonymous with what is part of their engagement with the community since being chartered 25 years ago (click HERE to learn more about the chapter's history).
Leading into Father's Day, the chapter is hosting a raffle with the dads in mind (as it concludes on June 13th). The prizes include a BBQ dinner for 10 via Chef Bonnie, an award-winning and ACF Certified chef (via ServSafe) which is right on time during the heart of cookout season. Additional prizes include a 50" class 4K UHD LED HDR Smart TV and a LUXE pampering basket with aa bevy of gift cards (you may refer to the flyer below for more details).

And what's summer without a day party?
As is the case in previous years, the chapter is hosting its kickoff to the official start of summer with their event at The Spot Sports Bar and Grill (June 13th from 1-4pm) as a way to network and more to get the season and weekend off to a good start. The event typically sells out, and with "early bird" options, those who are 18 and older are encouraged to be a part of the event (you may refer to the flyer below for more details).

Likewise, with fitness at the forefront, the chapter is hosting its summer-staple via their Fun Run/Walk (July 11th). With runners and walkers of various levels in mind, it's a way for all to be aware of the importance of fitness and the larger role it plays within health and wellness. There are vendor opportunities available for businesses and related entities (click HERE for details) as well as emailing (at health.wellnesscommitteeizs@gmail.com), making it a means for community engagement for the day and beyond (you may refer to the flyer for additional information).

Since the larger sorority's founding on November 12, 1922 and the chapter's chartering on March 24, 2001, their motto of "Greater Service, Greater Progress" is at the forefront of what they do within the community and beyond. And during a time of year when many pause and reboot, the chapter is clearly taking time to pause and keep going.
A sound series of summer events and programming which aligns with the Iconic nature of the Iota Zeta Sigma Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. are among the activities can engage with this summer and beyond.
Notes: Readers are invited to visit the chapter's website (click HERE) and social media (click HERE to visit their Instagram) to learn more about these and related programs conducted.
As of June 7, 2026, the Father's Day raffle is canceled. Per the flyer, refunds are being processed within the upcoming 5-7 business day period.
