Check your mail: blackmail by Josey Wellz

Happy new year!

I am sure people celebrated the end of 2018 and the start of 2019 in a number of ways, ranging from club related events, church service (yes people, there are places of worship that do a "watch night" or related event), or a relaxed evening at home with family and friends. As for me, I am able to do so on December 31, 2018 at an intimate venue, Holly's Event Center. As I enjoyed time with good people, it is more than just a standard celebration; it's about the launch of one of the faster rising artists whose release is a powerful song, message, and video.

It's about Josey Wellz.

The Atlanta-based and NYC-raised artist encompasses influences of R and B, hip-hop, reggae, and other genres with all of his work. However, as 2019 starts, he ushers in a song and work that has a truly deeper meaning, Blackmail.

The song title in and of itself has multiple meanings. Not only is it about how bad things can happen to good people, but the song captures a snapshot of the life challenges that black men face each and every day. The sincerity, passion, and purpose to strike up a conversation and seeing "where do we go from here" is just one of the messages conveyed in the video (click HERE to view).

In fact, it's not just the artist who is passionate about his work. Even his producer, Brandon Peterson, provides the audience with a very passionate discussion about the importance of the lyrical content, along with the video to provide insight to the struggles that too many people want to sweep under the rug.

The release of the song is just the start of bigger things in store for the artist. With the forthcoming release of his album "Vibrations", the focus is on providing a body a work that any demographic can truly "move" people. Given the just-released (and aforementioned) track, the song is simply foreshadowing the great work that Wellz is working diligently on.

Again, don't forget to check your mail.
