The 3rd time is the charm.
With this being the case, those who have their tickets or are planning to do so for this Sunday (October 5, 2025) at Spivey Hall (on the campus of Clayton State University) are in for a charmed and tremendous experience. Thanks to the creative leadership of Dr. Shenita Connally, the 3rd annual #AnElegantEveningOfJazz is taking place, as it continues to grow as a signature event in Clayton County (GA) and the Metro-Atlanta area.

Via Life With Shenita, support and engagement opportunities are provided for those who are widows and widowers; however, this Sunday's event and the larger series is open to the public as given her (and her late husband's) love and passion for the art form, it serves as the centerpiece for a truly memorable occasion.
The event includes a VIP reception (starting at 3pm) and a general reception (at 4pm) leading into the main performance. MC'd by WCLK (Jazz 91.9 FM's) Morris Baxter, this year's featured artists include Lyrika Holmes (harpist), Antoine Knight (saxophonist), and Robin Lattimore (vocalist). To add to the experience, the talents and creativity of Al Smith (musical director) provide a heightened experience for those in attendance.
As in previous years, a portion of the proceeds are donated to support music/jazz programs within Clayton County Public Schools. This year, Morrow High School's program is the recipient, as their ensemble is slated to perform during the VIP and general reception (prior to the start of the main performance).
Area businesses and related entities which include Edward Jones Investments (Floyd Gantt/Fayetteville, GA), Frontier Airlines, Dr. Keith & Mrs. Mary Horton, A New Well, Inc., and A Grand Daughter's Love, Inc. are among those serving as key sponsors and supporters for this year's event.
Limited tickets are available leading up to this Sunday; readers are encouraged to visit the website for Spivey Hall (click HERE) for their ticket purchases. In addition to last Wednesday's appearance on the Too Much Truth with Derrick Boazman radio show (on 1380 WAOK AM), another interview with event updates is scheduled for September 30, 2025 (at 5pm).
Music can truly bring people together, and when it comes to jazz, it can do so in a truly invigorating and creative setting reflective of the artists and art form.
Be charmed this Sunday.
