Is your life in order?
When it comes to preparing for the inevitable, getting one's affairs in order is a conversation that has to take place. Despite the challenges that come with such conversations, not having them can wreak havoc and in a proverbial manner, add kerosene to a fire.
Given her life experience in transitioning, Shenita Connally's book Is Your House In Order is a deep yet accessible dive into the need to plan ahead as fully as possible. Inspired by the needs of the widow and widower community, her book is designed for individuals and families looking to strengthen their financial preparedness and legacy planning, including the importance of being financially fit. Based on her life experience via the passing of her husband (July 21, 2015) and becoming a widow, it's about being as proactive as possible.
"My desire is for everyone to prepare for their exit from this earth in a manner that leave the family in a financial place that is at least equal to (if not greater than) what existed", she states. "No one should have to stress during a time of loss or live in poverty due to poor or no planning for the inevitable; I'm sharing my story and experience so others are as conscious as possible about getting their house in order before it's too late".

To these and related points, the community is invited to be a part of her event on May 17, 2026 (1pm EST) at the Clayton County Public Schools Cafe (1098 Fifth Avenue in Jonesboro, GA). Her discussion provides an expanded conversation on these topics and is presented in partnership with Joy Tellis Cooper (Clayton County Public Schools Board Member for District 8) and Alfred Dixon III (City of Jonesboro Councilman) and is hosted/moderated by Clayton County Public Schools Educator Ebony Brown.
It is recommended to register via the QR Code per the flyer. This Sunday (and beyond) is an opportunity to be better prepared.
And doing so on and with purpose.
