During the holidays, the weekends hit a little differently.
And for the Atlanta Gladiators, this weekend hit differently.
The team currently sits in 3rd place in the ECHL South Division (16-6-0-0/32 points), but they are only 4 points out of first place as the teams ahead of them (the 1st place Florida Everblades have 36 points and the 2nd place South Carolina Stingrays have 33 points) have played more games (24 and 26 respectively), so the Glads are clearly within striking distance of the top spot in the division.
A key reason for the team's success is the play of their defense and goaltending. The Glads have allowed 45 goals in 22 games (a 2.05 goals allowed average) as both Ethan Haider (8-3-0-0 record, a 2.52 goals allowed average, and a .918 save percentage) and T.J. Semptimphelter (8-3-0-0 record, a 1.54 goals allowed average, and a .942 save percentage) anchor the team defense and backline. Offensively, the team's offense is steadily improving (70 goals in 22 games for a 3.18 goals per game average) as they are scoring slightly more than 3 goals per game. Combined with the efforts of leading scorers Louis Boudon (the team's leading scorer with 7 goals/18 assists/25 points/+7 rating in 22 games) and Alex Young (7 goals/13 assists/20 points/+12 rating in 22 games) along with the leadership of team captain Cody Sylvester (6 goals/8 assists/14 points/+2 rating in 22 games), the positive tone established during training camp and overall consistency is shining through via their game play.

This weekend is the second 3 and 3 of the season (3 games in 3 days), as it's an opportunity to make headway in the ECHL South, as all 3 games are against division opponents. On December 19th at the Gas South District (7:10pm EST puck drop), the Glads host the Jacksonville Icemen for the Marvel Super Hero Night. On December 20th, the Glads travel to Greenville (and the Bon Secours Wellness Arena as the puck drops at 6:05pm EST) to take on another division rival, the Greenville Swamp Rabbits. They'll return home to the Gas South District on December 21st (as the puck drops at 3:10pm EST) as they'll face the Swamp Rabbits again to complete their home-and-home series as part of the larger 3 and 3.
As an added bonus, fans are asked (for the games on December 19th and 21st) to bring gently used or new winter clothing to support the winter items drive done in collaboration with VyStar Credit Union in support of MUST Ministries.

As the holidays are here, the action on the ice is heating up. Likewise, with the community give-back components in place during the team's upcoming 3 and 3, there's potential wins on and off the ice.
