The Savannah Ghost Pirates sink the Atlanta Gladiators with a 4-1 win in their in-state ECHL hockey rivalry game

Preview: Savannah Ghost Pirates (17-25-4-1/39 points/13th in the Eastern Conference) vs Atlanta Gladiators (17-28-2-1/37 points/14th in the Eastern Conference)

As the season gets to its final 3rd, there's still plenty to play for.

Both teams look to build positive momentum, and with an added feature of it being a rivalry game, Savannah looks to Simon Pinard (18 goals/16 assists/34 points) and Logan Drevitch (12 goals/22 assists/34 points) to lead the offense. Likewise, Atlanta's Micah Miller (20 goals/16 assists/36 points) and Reece Vitelli (7 goals/23 assists/30 points) are expected to be the tone-setters on offense.

Game recap: Savannah earns a 4-1 win against their in-state rival

The Ghost Pirates waste little time getting on the scoreboard and putting the Gladiators in a hole.

Goals by Simon Pinard (his 19th), Keltie Jeri-Leon (11th), and Noah Carroll (2nd) give them a 3-0 lead after 1 period.

The Gladiators would get back in the game thanks to Micah Miller's 20th goal of the season. After some back and forth play including a few near physical altercations, the Ghost Pirates would make it a 4-1 game thanks to Alex Gilmour's 8th goal of the year. Atlanta would get no closer and Savannah's defensive effort (they outshoot Atlanta by a 36-14 margin) plays a major role in the Glads' loss.

Winning goaltender Jesper Vikman turns away 13 of 14 shots. On the other hand, Josh Boyko makes 32 saves while facing 36 shots.

Atlanta looks to bounce back tomorrow as they hit the road against the Greenville Swamp Rabbits (February 17th at 7:05pm) as they have a home and home series with them (as they'll host Greenville on February 18th at 3pm).
