Food. Family. Fun. Family Food Fest Atlanta (2017)

Who doesn't like some good food? Who doesn't like going to a venue that engages families of all ages? And who doesn't like to do so in a fun setting?

In addition to this Sunday, June 18, 2017 being Father's Day, which in and of itself helps celebrate families by highlighting the efforts of those who tend to their families through the lenses of father, grandfather, uncle, mentor, and related roles, it's a good way to spend a part of the day with family and among other good people. And Family Food Fest (Atlanta) is a great day to do so!

Taking place at the Georgia Freight Depot (3-6pm), the event allows for attendees to embrace and celebrate the fathers and father figures in their lives (and others) in the form of food. And food that is good! A blend of appetizers, entrees, sides, and desserts in the forms of bite size samples are created by a blend of men and women who have a love for cooking, professionals (ranging from chefs, caterers, restaurants, and other professionals), including (but not limited to) Jasmine Stewart (the winner of MasterChef Junior-Season 5), Chef Idris Muhammad, Celebrity Chef Will Box, Chef Tregaye Fraser (from the Food Network), and others, it promises to be a great culinary experience for all.

HGTV's Egypt Sherrod (HGTV host, author, and radio personality) returns as the guest host.

WSB-TV's Tom Jones (news reporter) is among the special guests. Likewise, the collection of judges for the event provides an added positive energy to the event. The efforts of Chefs Tawanaca Davenport, Tamera Mixon, and Tashia Surrey-Thomas provide a professional presence, and combined with fellow judges Christopher "Cocktails" Cornell (of SMART Thursdays), Walt Harris (former NFL player and founder of Official Pro Players), Rodney Ho (of the AJC), Anthony AJ Joiner (community and social entrepreneur), Keith Knows (cultural and creative consultant), Marla Pruitte (of SOFA in the City), Sherry Reed (of Sistas Inspiring Sistas), Celebrity Host Tyressa Ty (entertainment host, correspondent, author, and community advocate), Je' Wesley (editor of Cocktail Chronicles), and Dearroka Winfrey (from Freddie-O Magazine), it's clearly a "must attend" event for Father's Day.

Under the leadership of Diane Larche', this signature event is $25 per adult ticket and $15 per children's ticket (in advance, as tickets the day of increase to $30 per adult and $20 per child), as a portion of the proceeds are donated to VSNS, Inc. (Visions, Inc., which focuses on eliminating health disparities by addressing social determinants of health) . It includes access to the food samples, a kid's zone, silent auction, live music performances, and more. It is recommended to purchase tickets online via Eventbrite or at the advance ticket outlets of Medu Bookstore, Nancy's Pizza (both the Midtown and Camp Creek locations), Foot FiTTr, Who's Got Soul, Jan's Flowers and Gifts, Rick's Barber and Beauty and Eye Connection Optical (details are in the flyer for the locations and related information).

WSB-TV, Upscale, Arby's, the AJC, Soutwest Airlines, Kiss 104.1 FM, MARTA, Georgia Power, and Waffle House, and Hartsfield-Jackson Airport are among the sponsors for the event. For a complete listing, readers are encouraged to visit the Family Food Fest website.

A good day, supporting a good cause, complete with food, fun, fellowship, and family. Family Food Fest Atlanta is clearly a great way to spend your upcoming Sunday and celebrate Father's Day!
