Five years of bringing the heat: Red Hot Summer Night by the East Point-College Park Alumnae of Del

On the standard calendar, the first day of summer is June 21st. However, when it comes to signature events to start the summer months, there’s one organization that keeps it “hot” and has done so for 5 consecutive years (including this year on June 9, 2018 from 9pm-2am at the Fox Theater).

Through their Red Hot Summer Night series (click HERE for ticket purchases), they are just more than the typical “hosts (or in this case, hostesses) with the most”. With a balanced lineup to appeal to a broad spectrum, this is one of the “can’t miss” events of the summer.

The event starts at the elegant Egyptian Ballroom, as those in their “summertime-fine” attire are more than ready to enjoy the live music performance of the Tony Tatum Experience, grounded in classic and contemporary r&b and interrelated genres. As engaging as a tone-setter as this is, it’s just the beginning.

The evening evolves into an even broader festive experience thanks to the sounds of DJ E Clazz and DJ Father Scott. Topped off by Gawd Oye serving as the host and you have the makings of a great evening for all (click HERE for the video promo link).

The East Point-College Park Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is making it "hot" this summer. Get your tickets for their 5-year anniversary for their Red Hot Summer Night Series this Saturday!

However, it’s more than just a great night out.

As with anything the chapter does, the evening serves a larger purpose. Proceeds from this fundraising event help enhance the youth scholarship initiatives of the chapter. Doing so provides opportunities for graduating high school seniors and young adults (based in Clayton County, Fayette County, and multiple areas of South Fulton County) potential support for their post-high school goals and endeavors; limited tickets are available, so it’s a good idea to get your tickets as soon as possible (click HERE for the ticket link). Combined with support from the larger community, its overall draw and appeal place it as one of those dates to “mark on your calendar”.

Ranging from the sorority’s inception on the campus of Howard University (January 13, 1913) to the award-winning chapter’s charter date of December 1, 1979, their community investment and resolve is highly commendable, emulated, and appreciated. Under the motto of “Intelligence is the Torch of Wisdom”, this event provides an example of the high standard the chapter sets and exceeds being a community presence and positive agent of change.

And of course, keeping it “hot” for the summer and beyond; Red Hot.
